The Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) is a national entrance exam for admission to national management programs. This test will help the participating educational institutions under AICTE to select suitable graduate candidates for management courses in such institutions.

- Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline. Applicants entering the final year of undergraduate studies can also apply for CMAT-2023, the result of which will be announced before the start of admissions for the academic year 2023 – 24.

CMAT 2023 Test Centre Selection
- During the 2023 CMAT registration, candidates can select up to four cities from a list of 124 cities where they wish to be assigned a CMAT test center.
- Applicants should note that once a test city is submitted, it cannot be changed.
- Test Center and Test City wiil be Mentioned in CMAT 2023 Admit Card
- CMAT Test City allotted to candidates is final and requests for changes will not be entertained.

CMAT 2023 Counselling
Since there is no centralized CMAT Counseling procedure run by NTA, member institutes shortlist applicants in accordance with their own admissions policies and selection standards. Students who achieve a qualifying score on the CMAT in 2023 and pass the cutoff must submit individual applications to each institute and take part in their selection procedures.
The release of the cutoff, individual interview, group Discussion and final selection are all part of CMAT Counseling.

Steps for CMAT 2023 Counselling
Following steps are conducted during the CMAT 2023 Counselling Process.
- Stage 1: Declaration of CMAT Scores
- Stage 2: CMAT Cut Off
- Stage 3: Group Discussion
- Stage 4: Written Ability Test or Personal Interview
- Stage 5: CMAT Final Selection
Step 1 ) Declaration of CMAT Result
- The CMAT 2023 results will be tentatively announced by the authorities on April 28, 2023. A scorecard will be used to announce the results. The candidates will be chosen for further consideration based on their scores. Each institute has a unique admissions process and policy. The students who have been shortlisted must show up for the additional rounds of selection on the specified day.
Step 2 ) CMAT cut – off
Every college has a separate counselling process because they all have their own unique selection procedures. Applicants must enroll in the appropriate colleges in accordance with their CMAT Cut Off..
Cut – off is based on following criteria
- difficulty level of CMAT Exam 2023
- Number of Candidates appearing for CMAT Exam 2023
- Number of seats vacant in CMAT 2023 Participating Colleges
- Number of candidates clearing CMAT Exam 2023
- Reservations – The reservations are 15%, 7.5%, 27%, 5% and 50.5% for SC, ST, OBC(NC), PwD and Gen respectively
Step 3 ) Group Discussion
- The topic for the group discussion will be assigned to the selected students.
- The subject would be connected to current events or commercial circumstances.
- After then, themes for discussion will be assigned to groups of at least ten pupils.
- Each student will receive a grade based on their aptitude for negotiation, encouragement, logical and creative thinking, application to real-world situations, closure, leadership, managerial, and initiation abilities.
Written Ability Test (WAT)
Some institutes may additionally conduct a Written Ability Test (WAT) for CMAT Selection 2023 in addition to the Group Discussion round. The decision to hold the WAT round will be entirely up to the concerned college.
- The WAT evaluates a candidate’s writing and comprehension abilities.
- While a candidate may be expected to write an essay on a specified topic in the allotted time, this round is meant to test the candidate’s knowledge of current events or his opinions on a number of significant problems.
- Applicants are graded on their capacity for analytical thought, proper grammatical usage, critical thought, and general knowledge.
Step 4 ) Personal Interview
- The students will be questioned about their personalities, academic records, prior employment experience, and a variety of other topics during the interview process.
- Candidates will receive ratings from the interviewer depending on how well they handle pressure.
- The authorities will administer a written ability test to candidates to evaluate their writing abilities.
Step 5 ) Final Selection
- The CMAT Final Selection is made in accordance with a number of criteria, including the Merit List, the CMAT Cut Off, the Number of Openings, performance in the Group Discussion and Personal Interview, reservations, etc.
- Based on a number of factors established by the college, management and the college come to their conclusion.
- Those who have been chosen must appear for document submission and verification.
- They will need to reserve a seat and pay the admission charge to ensure their admission.
